Publication Announcement: The Apostles' Creed: The Christian's Aid for Daily Living

I am excited to announce that I recently contributed an article to The Anglican Digest for the Winter 2023 issue, Vol. 65 No. 4. The Anglican Digest has been releasing four issues a year for 65 years. I have found their publications to be helpful in my walk with Jesus. The articles are Gospel-centered in the Anglican stream with both Catholic and Evangelical tributaries running into it. In each issue, I am encouraged that God has such faithful individuals serving His Church in America. I am immensely grateful to be a part of the latest issue.

My article is titled, “The Apostles’ Creed: The Christian’s Aid for Daily Living” and can be found on pp. 44-51. It comes from my devotional use of the Anglican Daily Office of Morning and Evening Prayer, both of which include reciting the classic statement of faith we call the Apostles’ Creed. In it, I reflect on how we can use the Apostles’ Creed in our devotional lives to ground us in the Gospel despite the daily challenges we face. Even if you aren’t Anglican, it is an incredible resource and belongs to the whole church, not just the Anglican stream. I recently recommended using it to my co-workers during faculty devotions. I hope and pray you find the article as helpful in your walk with Jesus as I did writing it. I’ll close with a little taste of the article, specifically its closing paragraph:

The Apostles’ Creed is an incredible devotional tool for Christians to remember the basic features of the Christian story. Let us take an opportunity to utilize it in meditation to remind us what we have learned about who God is. Let us ground ourselves in the assertion that this is what we know to be true. Let us pray through it, asking God to help us see it as true in each moment of our day, especially those moments that feel like they do not match the story of the Creed. As we live our lives actively in the presence of God, looking to His truth and expecting Him to work in us, He will give us the eyes of faith to see His work in the world behind every moment of our lives.
